When was the last time you stood still and took time to celebrate life?

When was the last time you rewarded yourself?

personal branding celebrate

Hi there,
STOP! Take some time to stop and relax and celebrate life. That’s what I did the last two weeks when I was on holiday in la douce France.

I realized I was running running running the whole time and that since I’ve started www.YouBrandBuilder.be my life has been a rollercoaster.

And on the one hand I love it, I am passionate about what I do and how I can bring the best out of people in order to help them grow their business so they’ll have more time to spend on the important things in life.

On the other hand I realized me, myself, I was not spending enough time to the important things, more specifically the important people, in my life.

So I’m gonna change that – slow down a little.

Anyway, little story:
A couple of months ago I started my 6 month program YOUBRAND with a group of ambitious dynamic entrepreneurs, all people who are already successful in their lives, but feel it’s time to move a little bit faster, to step up. And they don’t want to do it all by themselves.

So they joined our YOUBRANDprogram.

One of the first exercises we did together was the “begin with the end in mind-exercise”.
You probably know the Stephen Covey and his 7 (or 8) habits (“The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”).

The second habit is about envisioning your desired future, it’s about developing a Personal Mission Statement. It focuses on what you want to be and do. It is your plan for success. It reaffirms who you are, puts your goals in focus, and moves your ideas into the real world. Your mission statement makes you the leader of your own life. You create your own destiny and secure the future you envision. Your Purpose.

You can also find these ideas in books like “think & grow rich” from Napoleon Hill and “start with the why” from Simon Sinek.

Now, I did not ask the people in the group to start visualizing, nor did they have to envision their funeral like in Covey’s book. However, I did ask them to answer the following questions about their business in 2015:

  • What’s your financial goal with your business in 2015?
  • Imagine you could double that…
  • What would that mean to you?
  • What would you do with the extra money?
  • How would you reward yourself, your family, …
  • How would it feel if you could grow your business in such a way?
  • What has to change in your life to realize this?
  • What limiting beliefs about yourself do you have to let go in order for you to achieve  those goals?
  • What beliefs do you need instead?

You know what the most difficult question for them to answer, was?
The one about rewarding themselves.

PERSONAL BRANDING PURPOSE

Some of them dreamed about a car, or a designer bag, a house on the beach… but quite some of them had difficulties coming up with a good way to reward themselves.

For one of my clients, Marijke, I just did not feel right, these monetary rewards. After examining what would really be rewarding and great, she told us “I would just love more me-time to read a good book.”
Now how about that?! Isn’t that just a beautiful answer from a non-material girl in this material world?!

I don’t know how about you, but since I’ve became an entrepreneur, it seems like time has become one of the most precious things in life, together with health & love. TWEET THIS

And even though I often speak about building your Personal Brand and attracting more clients, and earning more money, it is also about enjoying more freedom. Freedom to choose, freedom to do crazy stuff and dance in the rain, freedom to enjoy ourselves, freedom to spend time on the important things in life, freedom to spend time with the important people in life.

So thank you, Marijke, for giving us this precious moment to stop and think about all that, that day.

Thank you for really holding that mirror in front of our faces and making us remember our purpose.

Now how about you?
When will you celebrate life? When will you reward yourself? And how? Do leave a comment below – THANKS!
